Luanne Robalo DeChristopher, Jaime Uribarri, and Katherine L. Tucker are all individuals who attended medical school that focused around Biochemistry and also worked in a laboratory researching nutritional science. The argument that they brought to light is that intake of high fructose corn syrup through non-diet soft drinks is a cause for chronic bronchitis in adults ages 20-55. It is important to be educated in these topics so that you are not added to the long list of people who suffer from these problems. Luanne Robalo DeChristopher makes it very clear how many credentials she has so that the reader is well aware that she is qualified. The persona sounds serious and formal which shows that the authors were trying to show the facts and alert concern about this issue. It is crafted to fit the expectations of the reader because they know going on that the article is based on health issues from the title. It seems as if the general public is being targeted and not just a select audience because nearly everybody consumes high fructose corn syrup and since that is what the article is about, it applies to everyone who has it in their diet. The authors expect to raise awareness as to what HFCS is doing to people and to help reduce consumption of it as much as possible.
